1989 – We began as J & K Conversions, created from a simple idea of giving families more space and comfort on holiday than a car could offer.
2001 – We became Munster Motorhomes focusing on supply, servicing and repairing motorhomes.
2002 – We were proud to become the main Irish dealer for Dethleffs, one of Germany’s top selling motorhome brands.
2005 – We added Pilote, a leading French brand, to our lineup as their main importer and distributor in Ireland.
2007 – Our second showroom was opened in Newcastle West, Co. Limerick and rebranded to Cara Motorhomes.
2008 – We then became the main Irish distributor for Sunlight and Rapido motorhomes. This is where we also entered the rental market around Ireland with McRent.
2011 – We headed to the UK with a new branch in Stoke-on-Trent, offering motorhomes, caravans and Cara’s excellent customer support.
2017 – John joined the established team of Stuart, Raymond and Dale as General Manager of Cara UK, bringing fresh energy and experience from the motor trade.
2018 – The team in the UK grew again with Paul joining Stuart in the workshop, and Kay joined a few months later working alongside John & Raymond.
2019 – As we grew, we moved our Irish business to a stunning modern site in Coolanoran, Co. Limerick with indoor showrooms, parts shop and even a café!
2020 – Despite all the challenges of Covid, Rick also joined the team in the workshop, bringing his years of motorhome experience alongside Stuart and Paul.
2021 – Cara became a Fiat Professional dealer in Ireland to further support their customers.
2023 – This was a busy year for us all. We got the keys to our new premises for Cara UK in Burston, Stafford. We were also appointed as Ireland’s sole dealer for Cathargo Motorhomes and Kevin also joined the team in the UK looking after all our handovers and supporting the workshop team.
2024 – Our UK site officially opened in Burston, Stafford, and we were also appointed as a dealer for the fabulous Robeta range of motorhomes. Leah also joined the team in the UK, working alongside John and Kay.
2025 – Lots of good things planned and happening, watch this space….
