But what exactly comes with the Cara five-year warranty? What does it cover and why is it such an advantage for customers?

If a warranty repair is required, it is not mandatory to bring it back to Cara, any reputable caravan or motorhome dealership (or vehicle service centre for mechanical claims) can claim on the extra three years of the warranty meaning if you are away on holiday any repair could be carried out locally instead of it ending your holiday.

Used Motorhomes – Finding The Right One

It’s no surprise that with a new motorhome being an expensive purchase used motorhomes are often attractive options. At Cara Motorhomes we have a wide range of used motorhomes in stock and we find they are often a very good alternative for customers.

But how do you make sure you purchase the right vehicle? With so many used motorhomes out on the market it can be a frustrating process. It’s also important to remember that this is still likely to be an expensive purchase so you want to make sure you’re not entering a world of problem.

So here is our guide to buying the best second hand motorhome for you.

Used Motorhomes vs. Used Cars

Do you remember being 17 and buying your first second hand car? There was so much choice out there but there was normally that wise person to guide you away from the potential disaster!

The same theory applies here. Whilst a lot of the used motorhomes you see will be perfectly fine there will be some problematic vehicles out there. Unfortunately it’s part of the course and you just have to take your time and find the right deal for you. Generally the old saying applies, if a deal is too good to be true, it probably is.

So How Do I Find The Right One?

Get up close and personal: look along the sides for ripples or dents, check where sealant has been applied and the care that has gone into the build. Remember, stickers applied in unusual places could be hiding something sinister. Make sure you take the vehicle for a test drive and really put it to the test.

Don’t Settle For Anything Other Than What You Want.

At Cara we always advise that our customers buy the motorhome that is right for them. This really applies when buying you a used motorhomes. It may be tempting to settle for a layout that isn’t perfect because it’s available. You shouldn’t be settling with a purchase like this. You can read our guide to finding the perfect new motorhome here.

What Else To Look Out

Of course you should check to see for HPI on a vehicle. Remember to consider the warranty you’ll be getting offered too. At Cara we regularly offer a three-year warranty on our used motorhomes and that kind of reassurance is a big boost.

But genuinely our main bit of advice would be to trust your instincts and take your time. Don’t rush this purchase because a deal seems good. Remember we’re always available to discuss anything motorhomes with. Click here to contact us now!

European Motorhome Holiday – Three Quick Pointers

One day this awful pandemic is over you will be able to hit the open road again. You’ll be able to drive like you’ve never driven and holiday like you’ve never holidayed before. But will it be time to go further afield, maybe it’s time for a European motorhome holiday?

If you’ve never experienced a European motorhome holiday it can be a little daunting. Driving on the other side of the road, different rules and regulations and where to go are all reasons not to take your motorhome to the continent.

But if you cross the channel you can open up an amazing European motorhome holiday world that is just ready to explore. Here are three points to making the holiday work for you!

European Motorhome Holiday – What Documents Will I Need?

It’s pretty simple this one, not a great deal! You will need a passport and UK driving licence for touring in a campervan in Europe but a visa and International Driving Permit are not yet requirements.

Depending on where you’re going we advise checking the AA’s country by country guides for up-to-date  information about what you need to carry in Europe.  It’s boring, but spend just one day doing this research before you head off and you’ll be glad you did!

European Motorhome Holiday – Where to go?

How on earth do you choose where to go when touring Europe by motorhome? How do you fit it all in? You could spend literally years in travelling in Europe and not see it all.

If you don’t have years, you need to decide what to prioritise! Pick what you want to see, pick where you want to go and find a holiday that is right for you. You can read a guide to destinations here.

I’m Worried About The Driving

If you’ve never driven on the other side of the road it can be a little daunting. It is completely natural to feel a little uneasy but you will be fine. Look out for your position relative to the road markings, lines and other traffic. You won’t be in the same place on the road that you’re used to, so a keen spatial awareness of your car is essential.

Roundabouts and left-hand turns will probably become the most difficult to navigate, and extra care should be taken on larger roads and motorways. Just take your time and you’ll be fine.

Once you’ve got rid of that anxiety you will be able to relax and enjoy your holiday and be able to enjoy your European motorhome holiday.

Don’t forget our new motorhome range, which is ideal for taking a European motorhome holiday can be viewed here.

When you can pull over safely and let other vehicles pass. You can click here to read a guide as to just how fast you can go in your motorhome.

Consider Upgrades To Your Vehicle

Your journey is better if you’re relaxed. A sat-nav can certainly help to make you feel more relaxed! But other items such as industry standard car seats for the kids or upgraded cupboard catches can really help to give you a little bit more peace of mind.
