Our History

1989 Company established as J & K Conversions Limited. The company was started from John’s wish to bring his family with him on holiday in a comfortable space rather than a cramped car.

2001 Due to the demand for larger campers, J & K Conversions Limited changed its name to Munster Motor Homes; concentrating on supply, repair, and service of motor homes.

2002 Munster Motor Homes Ltd is appointed the main dealer for Dethleffs Motorhomes; a prestigious quality built German motor home that gives a 2-year bumper to bumper warranty and 6-year leakage warranty. This is why Dethleffs have been the No.1 best-selling motorhome in Germany since 2003. They recently celebrated their 75th year.

2005 In November 2005, Munster Motor Homes Ltd added another prestigious name in motor homes manufacturers to its list when they were appointed main importers and distributors of Pilote Motorhomes in Ireland. Pilote, a long-established manufacturer of motorhomes in France, offers style, quality, and 45 years of experience in motorhomes.

2007 Munster Motor Homes open a second showroom in Newcastle West, Co. Limerick – Munster Motor Homes change its name to Cara Motorhomes.

2008 Cara Motorhomes were appointed main importers and distributors of Sunlight and Rapido Motorhomes in Ireland. Rapido are a manufacturer in France offering a wide range of motorhomes. We also ventured into renting a fleet of leisure vehicles throughout Ireland.

2011 Cara expanded by opening a branch in Stoke-on-Trent in the UK, where Cara UK offered motorhomes and caravans to the English midlands market providing assured customer service as paramount to the success of the business. Over the last 12 years the business has grown, and is now the go-to Adria caravan and motorhome dealership in the UK, not only for sales, but for after-sales also.

2017 John B. joined the company as General Manager of Cara UK, continuing the great work already under way by the team, and bringing new ideas from his background in the motor trade and motor sport.

2019 We relocated our Irish business to Coolanoran, Newcastle West, Co. Limerick. This was an exciting project which allowed Cara to continue to grow and offer more to our customers. Indoor showroom for viewing our sale vehicles, a designated McRent area, our motorhome shop has an extensive selection and our cafe area provides a comfortable space for our customers.

2021 Cara Motorhomes Ireland were appointed Fiat Professional dealer, and Cara UK also started to offer selected performance cars for sale at the site in Stoke-on-Trent, prepared to the same high standard currently found on all our new and used motorhomes and caravans.
